Wines of Northern and Southern Italy
Unification of Italian Peninsula in 1861 didn't erase 1500 years of history.
20 Italian regions still hold their own identity as it comes to culture, food, and wine.
The goal of the meeting is to explore this diversity and present the wines which are unique for Northern (e.g. Friuli, Veneto) and Southern (e.g. Sicily and Campania) Regions. The meeting will include tasting of wines that go beyond the “big names” of Italy - like Barolo, Brunello and Chianti – and will explore wines that are every bit as unique and delicious and important within their region. Some of these wines will be very eye opening and are gaining a following on the world’s stage like their more famous fellow wines of Italy.
Unique methods of winemaking will also be discussed, such as the ripasso method used in Veneto.
As usual the event will be held and Michael Florentino Winery in Woodinville thanks to Club's alumni Bred Sherman.
